What does DPF Delete Do For Your Truck?

If you own a diesel pickup truck you may have started noticing that you are starting to lose power over time. You also will likely have been having to fill your tank more frequently. If your truck happens to have a 6.7 Cummings or 6.7 Powerstroke engine this could be caused by the DPF System and EGR Systems that are built into your truck's engine. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem, you can look into installing DPF Delete and EGR Delete Kits.
What purpose do the DPF and EGR Systems serve in your truck's engine?
In short, these two systems are part of your engine’s management system and are very important to it’s optimum operation. These two technologies are part of the engine’s emission control system and were developed to help reduce the amount of soot and particulates that are released into the atmosphere.
Both systems divert the exhaust coming from the combustion chamber and recirculate it back so that it can be further burned off before it hits the exhaust. The EGR System uses a valve that diverts the gases before it gets to the exhaust. The DPF System then traps any soot and particulates that are still contained in the exhaust.
The DPF System also features a cleaning cycle that opens up and diverts the contents of it collection chamber back into the combustion chamber. This also prevents large amounts of soot and particulates from being released into the atmosphere.
The downside to both of these emission control systems is the effects that they have on your truck's power and gas mileage. Since both recirculate soot and gases into the fuel-air mixture, they tend to rob an amount of horsepower from your truck's Powerstroke or Cummins engine.
What is an EGR Delete Kit?
The EGR Delete Kit is a device developed by an aftermarket company and it bypasses the EGR valve from your engine. This will prevent the recirculating of the exhaust back into the engine's combustion chamber. The expelled gases will flow directly into the engine’s DPF System.
What is a DPF Delete Kit?
The DPF Delete Kit essentially removes the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) from the engine. This aftermarket device bypasses the filter and allows all of the expelled gases from the combustion chamber to enter the truck's exhaust system. This eliminates the potential power loss and fuel mileage degradation due to the soot and particulates being recirculated into the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber. There are aftermarket products like the 6.7 Cummins DPF Delete Kit and the Powerstroke DPF Delete Kit that is available from online retailers.
These DPF and EGR Delete Kits are available online at retail websites like DPF delete shop. They offer a wide range of aftermarket parts and accessories for diesel pickup trucks. This includes makes and models of trucks that feature the 6.7 Cummins and 6.7 Powerstroke Diesel engines.
Are DPF Delete Kit and EGR Delete Kit legal?
The answer to this question is not straightforward. Since the DPF is required by many states and countries around the world. This is because of it’s benefits to the planet. However, most laws only make it illegal to physically remove the DPF or EGR system from the truck. So, technically, the two delete kits simply bypass them and do not remove them. Now, there is a caveat to this, if you decide to use one of these kits you will be required to have your truck recertified by the manufacturer and have a new sticker to be able to pass certain state emission requirements.
