Collection: Duramax EGR Delete Kits
1.Why EGR Delete Is the First Step for Building a Better Duramax
The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system routes hot exhaust gases back into the intake to reduce NOx emissions. While this may satisfy emissions standards, it comes at a cost: increased carbon buildup, higher intake temperatures, and reduced engine longevity—especially under heavy towing or performance use.
Compared to Powerstroke and Cummins platforms, egr delete 6.6 duramax due to the tighter intake system configuration and ECM calibration. This makes deleting the EGR system on Duramax diesels not just a performance upgrade, but also a preventative maintenance strategy.
By installing a egr delete kit duramax from SPELAB, you remove the restrictive EGR valve and cooler, allowing fresh, cool air to enter the combustion chamber.
Depending on your model and configuration, SPELAB EGR delete kits can be installed as standalone upgrades or combined with intake kits, up pipes, or even a tuner for optimal gains. For example, on a 2011 Duramax LML 6.6L, deleting the EGR alone can reduce intake temps by up to 80°F, and when paired with tuning, gains of up to +100 HP are possible.
Whether you drive a 2008 LMM Duramax, a 2004 LLY, or a 2020+ L5P, SPELAB has precision-fit solutions to help you take control of your engine’s airflow and performance. For off-road enthusiasts, deleting the EGR system is the first step in building a cleaner, cooler, more responsive Duramax.
2.L5P LML & LMM EGR Delete Kit Compatibility

3.1 EGR Delete Only
Perfect for first-time modifiers or those focused on long-term engine protection. Removes the EGR valve and cooler to reduce soot buildup and allow cooler air into the intake.
✅ Available for:
2004-2005 LLY, 2006-2007 LBZ, 2007.5-2010 LMM, 2011-2016 LML, 2017-2023 L5P
3.2 EGR + Intake Kit
Combine clean airflow with improved throttle response. Replacing the restrictive intake tube and EGR system increases intake volume and reduces turbo lag.
✅ Recommended for:
Daily drivers who want noticeable response gains without full-system removal.
3.3 EGR + Intake + Up Pipe / Downpipe Back Exhaust
Designed for performance-focused off-road trucks, this combo reduces exhaust backpressure, lowers turbo temps, and improves spool-up across the RPM range.
✅ Best fit for:
2015 Duramax delete kit users, heavy towing setups, or competitive diesel owners.
3.4 DPF + EGR + Tuner
The ultimate all-in-one Duramax delete kit. Includes everything you need to fully unlock your diesel: no restrictions, cleaner exhaust paths, and on-the-fly tuning control with custom power levels.
✅ Ideal for:
2011-2016 Duramax LML, 2017-2023 L5P, or anyone who wants full control of engine behavior.
3.5 CAN Bus Plug Combinations
For L5P Duramax (2017-2023), electronic control plays a major role. Our CAN Bus Plug integrations ensure your delete system communicates seamlessly with the ECM, avoiding limp mode or DTCs.
Whether you’re deleting just the EGR on a 2009 Duramax 6.6L, or going all-in with a tuner and intake on a 2016 LML, SPELAB gives you the flexibility to customize your delete path based on your goals, budget, and experience level.
4. Duramax EGR Delete vs Powerstroke & Cummins
While we’ve established in the first section that deleting the EGR system on a Duramax diesel improves airflow, lowers intake temps, and reduces carbon buildup, it's just as important to understand how that process differs from other diesel engines like Powerstroke and Cummins.
When modifying a 6.6L Duramax engine, especially from 2007.5 to 2023, users must consider the tighter packaging of components, the sensitivity of ECM calibrations, and the integration of emission systems like DPF and DEF. That’s why EGR Delete Kits for Duramax, especially on LML and L5P models, often include CAN Bus plugs, reroute hardware, or tuning interfaces to prevent DTCs or limp mode.
By contrast:
-
Powerstroke EGR deletes, such as for the 6.0L or 6.7L, often involve bulkier systems with integrated oil coolers, requiring complex coolant rerouting.
-
Cummins 6.7L deletes may seem more modular, but usually require simultaneous CCV deletes, grid heater deletes, or manifold upgrades to avoid performance bottlenecks.
In short, while all three engines benefit from EGR removal, the Duramax system demands more precision—and that’s exactly where SPELAB’s vehicle-specific kits shine. With model-specific designs for the 2005 Duramax LLY, 2011 LML, and 2020+ L5P, users get tailored components that simplify installation and ensure reliability across all stages of modification.
So if you're planning a delete project, knowing how your engine compares is critical—not just for performance gains, but for ease of installation, long-term durability, and avoiding unnecessary tuning errors.
5. What Happens After Duramax EGR Delete?
Removing the EGR system on your Duramax 6.6L diesel isn't just removing a faulty component, it changes the way your truck breathes, responds, and performs. Especially when paired with the right intake, tuner, or exhaust system upgrade.
5.1 Intake Temperature Drops
Without hot exhaust gases recirculating into the intake, air entering the combustion chamber is significantly cooler.
-
On a 2011 Duramax LML, EGR delete alone can lower intake temps by up to 80°F
-
Cooler air = more oxygen density = more efficient combustion = better power output
5.2 Improved Throttle Response and Spool Time
The absence of carbon buildup and restrictive valves leads to faster turbo spool and crisper acceleration, particularly noticeable when towing or climbing.
-
Drivers report 10–15% better responsiveness after deleting EGR on LMM/LML Duramax models
-
When combined with an upgraded up pipe or intercooler pipe, turbo lag is further reduced
5.3 Horsepower and Torque Gains
While EGR delete alone doesn’t boost raw horsepower, it lays the foundation for safe tuning. When paired with a SPELAB-supported tuner:
-
Gain up to +100 HP on a 2016 Duramax LML
-
Achieve up to 150 HP gains when running a full EGR+DPF+Tuner+Intake combo on a 2020 L5P Duramax
5.4 Reduced Maintenance and Carbon Build-Up
One of the most underrated benefits of EGR delete is engine cleanliness:
-
Fewer emissions-related codes
-
Cleaner intake runners
-
Extended turbo and head gasket lifespan
Whether you're chasing numbers or just want your 2015 Duramax 6.6L to run smoother and cooler under load, SPELAB’s delete kits give you measurable, real-world benefits—backed by consistent performance data and real enthusiast results.

Good fit, sounds awesome, definitely made a difference, hose clamps could be a little better, holes was off a little for the sensors, but for the price overall good product!

They have great customer service what I order was much better than what I was expecting to receive thank you for guys for everything

This was a very easy install, the parts seems to be good quality.

Great products, the updates and revisions to there parts show they care about making things better. 100% would buy all my parts from Spelab.

Directions were not good and there isn’t a heater bolt yet..but the product is great and you can’t beat the price. Happy with the product.

This is a good upgrade. I change the rear differential fluid frequently so now I will be able to drain and refill more easily. Easy install. No leaking. Hardware and gasket included. Very happy

I was impressed with the build quality. And very happy with the cover features: fill plug, drain plug, sight glass, nice paint, cooling fins and machined channels on the inside to direct fluid flow. I also put in some AMSOIL diff fluid. A winning combo. Love that gasket and premium hardware is included. A much better deal than the Banks cover. This cover will cool plenty abd direct fluids where it needs to go. I’m happy with my investment and highly recommend.

Fairly straight forward to install. My truck seems to be running and breathing a ton better.

Installed this billet version onto my 2019 Roush F150 recently. I wanted a cover that had the proper fluid flow vaning and fill and drain plugs to make future fluid changes easier, as I plan to renew the fluid every 30k miles. The sight glass so you can see the level and the condition of the fluid is also a great feature. I did quite a bit of research on which cover I wanted to install and saw the fluid flow issues with the square back covers, whereas this one has the proper curved design and vanes in it to direct the fluid that's coming over the top to the correct places of the differential for proper lubrication. I went with the billet one so that it's stronger than the lower priced cast version, as I keep my vehicles forever (20 years and 200k miles or more) and would rather do it right one time than have to do it again. The magnetic plugs to capture any ferrous gear wear is also a nice benefit. Installed with LubeLocker gasket.

Fit like crap. As did the down pipe. I got ppe ones and no refund from spelab

Fits very well and is really well constructed. Also looks really good installed in the truck!

Fit, "Like a glove!"

Didn’t have an issue with the install. Instructions weren’t real clear but overall the install was easy. Parts seemed to be good quality.

Fit nice and looks great!

I love it wish I had a tuner for my truck now, but I love it thank you
