Description Fitment FAQ Shipping & Returns

By eliminating exhaust gas recirculation, an EGR delete significantly improves diesel engine performance while reducing maintenance costs. The system's removal restores fuel efficiency by up to 20% while preventing soot buildup that damages DPFs and clogs valves. Engine temperatures run cooler without recirculated exhaust gases flowing through the EGR cooler, reducing heat-related stress. This modification also delivers long-term savings by eliminating expensive EGR component repairs and decreasing carbon deposit-related maintenance.

Installation Process and Considerations

Tools and Materials Needed

  • Basic hand tools (wrenches, socket set, screwdrivers)
  • Torque wrench
  • Hydraulic jack and jack stands
  • Coolant drain pan
  • Protective gloves and safety glasses

Installation Steps

Preparation

  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface. Apply the parking brake and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical short circuits.
  • Drain the engine coolant by opening the radiator drain valve and collecting the coolant in a drain pan.

Remove the Existing EGR System

  • Locate and remove the intake manifold using appropriate wrenches. Carefully detach any sensors or wiring connected to the manifold.
  • Remove the EGR valve and EGR cooler by loosening the bolts and disconnecting the coolant lines. Be cautious of any residual coolant that may spill out.

Install the SPELAB EGR Delete Kit

  • Install the CNC machined billet aluminum and stainless steel components from the SPELAB EGR Delete Kit in place of the removed EGR system parts.
  • Secure all components using the provided bolts and gaskets, ensuring proper alignment and tightness. Use a torque wrench to tighten bolts to the specified torque settings in the installation guide.

Complete the Coolant Circuit

  • Reconnect the coolant lines to the provided bypass fittings, ensuring a secure and leak-free connection.
  • Install the exhaust cover plate, making sure to align it correctly. The cover plate is pre-tapped for the Ford factory EGT probe, allowing easy installation of the probe.

Refill Coolant and Check for Leaks

  • Refill the engine coolant to the recommended level, and start the engine. Allow it to reach operating temperature while checking for any leaks in the cooling and exhaust systems.
  • Inspect all connections and ensure there are no coolant or exhaust leaks. Tighten any loose connections if necessary.

Final Inspection

  • Perform a final inspection to ensure all components are securely installed and there are no leaks. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Test drive the vehicle to ensure proper operation and improved performance.

Important Considerations

  • Follow Instructions: Adhere to the detailed installation instructions provided with the SPELAB EGR Delete Kit to ensure proper installation and avoid any potential issues.
  • Use Safety Gear: Wear protective gloves and safety glasses during the installation process to prevent injuries from sharp components or chemical exposure.
  • Check Local Regulations: Before installing an EGR Delete Kit, verify local emissions regulations to ensure compliance and avoid potential legal issues.
  • Seek Professional Help: If you are not confident in performing the installation yourself, seek assistance from a professional mechanic to ensure correct installation and optimal performance.
